Stephen Ministry, Distinctively Christian Care Stephen Ministry is a program that equips lay persons to provide distinctively Christian one-on-one care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life-needs and circumstances, both in our congregation and community.
Training to become a Stephen Minister begins October 13, 2008–March 16, 2009. Please see “Training” for more information and an application form.
Lay Counseling—a ministry of hope.
Lay Counseling is a program that offers hope to those experiencing pain that problems of living create. Lay Counselors are trained to explore problems from a biblical perspective and can empathize with the counselee’s pain. They know that hope in God is a by-product of trials (Romans 5). God’s Word explains our hope-filled faith, but men and women need to see hope lived out in others’ lives. Otherwise, it’s mere head knowledge. That’s why we’re grateful for our 30 lay counselors, who are mature and hope-filled themselves.
For more information about the Lay Counseling ministry and an application form for Lay Counselor training, see “Training.” Lay Counselor training will begin in the fall of 2009.
Practicum and Intern Students Practicum and intern students serve along with us at the Counseling Center as they move toward completing their graduate studies at local Universities and Seminaries. Quality care is assured as our students receive ongoing guidance and supervision from professional counselors on staff. If interested in exploring potential opportunities of the Counseling Center, please call 480.824.7239. See “Training” for more information
Outside Referrals There are times when specialized care is warranted for one’s situation. Additionally, there are times when an in-house counselors’ schedule is rather full and openings may not meet your scheduling needs. Therefore, we offer referrals in the community for you to consider. Please call the Counseling Center at 480.824.7239 for additional information.
Support Groups The Scottsdale Bible Counseling Center offers a wide variety of support group to cover many needs. For more information on what is offered see “Support Groups” |
