Voting Period: Monday, May 11 – Sunday, May 17

All members are invited to vote to approve three candidates to join the Scottsdale Bible Church Elder Board for a four-year term starting on July 1, 2026. Candidates were selected and interviewed by the current Scottsdale Bible Nominating Committee and then recommended to the Elder Board. The Elders prayerfully considered the nominees and voted unanimously to recommend the candidates listed below to the members for an affirmation vote.

An email with a personalized link to vote on these candidates will be sent to all members on Monday, May 11, and the voting window will be open through Sunday, May 17. Thank you for participating in this important process!

Elder Board Candidates

Kory Schuknecht

Kory Schuknecht

Kory accepted Christ as a teenager at Saguaro High School through the ministry of Young Life. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business from Arizona State University, and a Master’s degree from Phoenix Seminary. Kory has served as an Elder for Scottsdale Bible on four previous occasions. Over the years, he taught and served in Discovery Kids, High School, College, Small Groups, and several enrichment classes. He also served as a pastor on staff at Scottsdale Bible for more than 14 years. Kory and his wife Gail have four adult children and eleven grandchildren, and they have been at Scottsdale Bible since 1976.

Tim Kimmel

Tim Kimmel

Tim put his faith in Jesus at a young age but really committed his life to Him in his teenaged years. Around that time, he met a girl named Darcy who had recently given her life to Jesus, too. They ultimately married and had four children who are all now married and have given them eleven grandchildren to love (so far). After graduating from Dallas Seminary, they moved to Arizona and Tim became Scottsdale Bible’s first staff youth pastor, serving from 1976-1980. Although he’s spent most of his ministry career speaking and writing books on Christian marriage and parenting as the Founder of Grace Based Families, he and Darcy continue to serve at Scottsdale Bible. Tim taught the Faithful Families class for 12 years and has been a featured speaker in the Timothy Leadership Training, Men’s Ministry, First Five, and Common Ground. He has also filled the pulpit on various Sundays over the years.

Christopher Charles

Christopher Charles

Christopher is an Arizona native and grew up in the church but did not surrender his life to Christ and discover the abundant life that comes from completely trusting Jesus until law school. Today, he serves as the Founder and Managing Partner of Provident Law®. He also serves as a Director for the National Christian Legal Society. Christopher had the opportunity to serve on a mission trip to Spain with Scottsdale Bible that focused on sharing the gospel with “pilgrims” along the Camino de Santiago trail. He and his wife, Gabi, have four boys: Noah, Asher,  Lucas, and Titus, and they enjoy co-leading a small group Bible study. His family has been richly blessed by Scottsdale Bible’s marriage ministry, and they pray for continued opportunities to bless other couples as they have been blessed.

You May Be Wondering…

  • The member-elected Nominating Committee meets throughout the year to consider men from all our campuses who have demonstrated godly character, integrity, service, and other biblical qualifications for eldership. They then recommend qualified candidates to the current Elder Board whose members pray over the list, and after further deliberations, formalize the candidate list for final approval by you, the members.

  • Yes, it's important that you do, unless you have strong objections to an individual. Our hope is that you have confidence in your church’s leadership and their selection of qualified candidates. If you have concerns or questions, please contact us.

  • Generally, we take note of people who are actively engaged in the church with their time, talent, and treasure and have shown themselves to be wise leaders. It is from that pool of people that the Nominating Committee selects leaders to recommend as Elder candidates.

  • Elders serve four-year terms and must be off the Elder Board for at least one year before they can be elevated to the role again.

  • Being an Elder at Scottsdale Bible is a tall order and is not for the faint of heart! Elders generally meet monthly as a full Board. Each member also sits on at least one of our board committees (Risk, Finance, Admin, Nominating, etc.) which generally meet once per month as well. The Elders also meet once a month for 'Soul Care,' a meeting where they tend to the spiritual needs of one another. In addition to this, Elders are expected to be active in the life of the church.

  • Scott Anderson, our Executive Pastor, would be happy to discuss this vote or anything pertaining to our church’s operations with you. His email is: sanderson@scottsdalebible.com

  • You can send your recommendation to elders@scottsdalebible.com. Each name submitted will be reviewed and included in the process.
